Herzogin Anna Amalia von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel

Anna Amalia von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1739-1807) war Herzogin von Sachsen-Weimar und fungierte als Regentin, Mäzenin und Komponistin. Ihre private Bibliothekssammlung war mit rund 5000 Bänden eine der größten privaten Büchersammlungen einer deutschen Fürstin des 18. Jahrhunderts. Ihre persönliche Liebe zur Kunst, zur Musik und zum Musiktheater führte sie auch nach Rom und Neapel, wo sie eine musikalische Akademie (Salon) leitete. Die pompejanische Bank im Ilmpark erinnert an diese Reise.

Anna Amalia von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1739-1807) was Duchess of Saxe-Weimar and acted as regent, patron and composer. Her private library collection was one of the largest private book collections of a German princess of the 18th century. Having a personal love of art, music, and musical theatre, she also spent time in Rome and Naples where she ran a musical académie (salon). The Pompeian bench in the Ilm Park commemorates this trip.
