CARL ALEXANDER’S PEDESTAL (2017). Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Dokumentation: Feng Runze. Gestiftet von der Künstlerin.

Teil der WALK OF ART-Reihe der Bauhaus Universität, Weimar MFA Kunst im öffentlichen Raum und neue künstlerische Strategien, eine alternative Führung. Hier stellte der Künstler Carl Alexanders leeren Sockel am Goetheplatz in Weimar vor. Anhand eines etwa 100 Jahre zuvor aufgenommenen Acetatfotos der Stätte ermöglichte die Intervention den Teilnehmern, „in der Zeit zurückzugehen“, um die Statue zu sehen, die einst dort stand, bevor sie 1938 von den Nazis entfernt wurde.

Part of the Bauhaus Universität, Weimar MFA “Public Art and New Artistic Strategies” WALK OF ART series, an alternative guided tour. Here, the artist introduced Carl Alexander’s empty pedestal at Goetheplatz in Weimar. Using an acetate photograph of the site taken about 100 years earlier, the intervention allowed participants to “go back in time” to see the statue that once stood there before it was removed by the Nazis in 1938.
